October finished with the Atlanta Braves Top 100 prospect list coming out this month on Tomahawk Take. This was a labor of love for Ben, and it meant a week of no scouting reports, but those will start back up in November.
As we look ahead to the offseason once the World Series is finished, I will reference one of the best Braves-related Twitter follows, @BravesOptions, who puts this information together. I’ll print them here for easier formatting, but these are some guys that are minor league guys to consider that may have some action needed before 2017 opens:
Guys eligible for the Rule 5 Draft:
- Willians Astudillo
- Zachary Bird
- Johan Camargo
- Carlos Castro
- Carlos Franco
- Enderson Franco
- Max Fried
- Ryan Gebhardt
- Reed Harper
- Levi Hyams
- Steve Janas
- Steve Kent
- Kyle Kubitza
- Connor Lien
- Matt Marksberry
- Erison Mendez
- Joey Meneses
- Omar Obregon
- Joseph Odom
- Wes Parsons
- David Peterson
- Zach Quintana
- Jake Schrader
- Lucas Sims
- Luis Valenzuela
Per my calculations, these are the guys who will be minor league free agents:
- Willians Astudillo
- Daniel Castro (he’s my biggest question on status)
- Maikel Cleto
- Carlos Franco
- Sean Kazmar
- Steve Kent
- Emerson Landoni
- Victor Mateo
- Brian Moran
- Jordan Pacheco
- Braeden Schlehuber
- Rob Wooten
- Madison Younginer
Now, any of those free agents could return to the system by resigning with the Braves, as Carlos Franco and Victor Mateo did last offseason.
