Alex Verdugo has 3 doubles, but Boston Red Sox lose to Braves, 6-3

BOSTON -- Alex Verdugo’s three doubles weren’t enough for the Red Sox in a 6-3 loss to the Braves on Monday night.

On a day when the Red Sox traded away another one of their outfielders (Kevin Pillar), Verdugo showed why he’s here to stay, scoring Boston’s first two runs. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak and dropped Boston to 12-23 on the year.

The teams traded runs in the first, with Nick Markakis (RBI double) and Rafael Devers (RBI single) getting their teams on the board. After Verdugo scored on a Max Fried balk in the third, Braves right fielder Adam Duvall hit a towering homer off Colten Brewer that easily cleared the Green Monster and tied the game, 2-2.
