Aaron Nola 're-signs with the Phillies on a seven-year, $172million contract' as the pitcher snubs interest from divisional rival Atlanta Braves to extend career-long stay with team

Free-agent pitcher Aaron Nola has re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on a seven-year contract worth $172million, according to reports.

Nola was one of seven players to reject $20m qualifying offers from the Phillies earlier this month after his previous contract expired at the end of the 2023 season.

But according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the 30-year-old has extended his career-long stay with the franchise by another seven years after penning a lucrative new deal.

Nola is set to undergo a physical later on Sunday before the deal is finalized.

It is believed he turned down interest from divisional rival the Atlanta Braves in order to commit his future to the Phillies.
