After initially being drafted by the Kansas City Royals, the Mercer and FPD alum and Macon native signed with Atlanta after he was released earlier this year.
MIAMI — A Macon native achieved a dream that many young Central Georgia ballplayers dream of: pitching for the hometown Atlanta Braves.
Mercer and FPD alum Austin Cox achieved just that on Sunday, pitching a single inning after he was called up the day before from AAA.
After a successful career with FPD, where he achieved a 15-6 record and a 2.19 ERA, he went undrafted in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
