Can the Mets score some runs?
The Mets' offense woke up late on Monday against the Nationals in Washington, scoring four runs in what became an 8-4 loss.
But the offense has been close to non-existent over the last 14 games, as the Mets have scored just 33 runs -- an average of 2.35 runs per game.
With their starting lineup nearing full strength (more on that below), the Mets are running out of excuses for their poor offensive output and will need to wake up before their lead in the NL East dwindles further.
