The Washington Nationals have won the NL East rather easily the last two years. They’ve sat atop the division in four of the last six seasons. And barring something crazy happening, they should have the division title wrapped up by mid-September this time around.
The window may be closing for Washington, though. Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy are free agents after this year. Anthony Rendon and Adam Eaton are signed for two more years. Max Scherzer and Gio Gonzalez are entering their mid-30s. They’ve depleted a good chunk of their farm system over the last few years and might be willing to trade top prospect Victor Robles, although it would require a massive return.
