Atlanta is in the midst of overhauling their roster after missing out on the playoffs for the second straight season. Here's the latest on their moves this offseason:
Upton is the latest Braves player to get shipped out of town, as Atlanta traded him to San Diego for LHP Max Fried, 2B/SS Jace Peterson, 3B Dustin Peterson, and OF Mallex Smith. Atlanta viewed as Upton as a good player, but definitely not the star they thought they were getting when they acquired him.
Atlanta has been trying to package Chris Johnson or B.J. Upton with one of the more desirable trade targets, but no one has been willing to take either player yet. The writing has been on the wall for some time, but don't expect either player to be in a Braves uniform for much longer.
