Braves Down Blue Jays, Winning Streak At 3

The Braves beat the Blue jays 5-1 today, extending their winning streak to 3 games. Mike Minor pitched a solid game, ending a nine-start winless streak. This puts the win streak at 3, after a dismal 1-5 stretch.

Brian McCann hit a two-run home run, and Jason Heyward had an RBI single.

While Minor was designated for assignment after the game, McCann and other Braves believe he's got the stuff to be a starting pitcher in the big leagues.

If the Braves get a steady flow of runs from their offense, they should stay in the NL East race, but the Phillies are extremely hot right now. The Braves pitching has matched the Phillies' starting pitchers nicely, but the Braves inconsistent bats are the reason for being back 4.5 games from the Phillies.

On a brighter note, the Braves are in first place in the Wild Card, 1.5 games in front of the Giants and Cardinals. Last year was the first year in Braves history that they got into the playoffs via the Wild Card. Hopefully the Phillies will cool off during there so-far hot summer.
