'He didn't come for 25 minutes, he came for five years': Pep Guardiola defends Jack Grealish after underwhelming cameo in Community Shield defeat and admits Man City will need to grind out wins without stars to start this season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola defended British-record signing Jack Grealish after an underwhelming cameo appearance and praised his makeshift team after they were beaten by a late Leicester penalty in the Community Shield.

Grealish came for teenage debutant Samuel Edozie on 65 minutes, but gave the ball away seven times as Leicester took the spoils at Wembley thanks to a late penalty from Kelechi Iheanacho after he was brought down by Nathan Ake.

Grealish made his debut just two days after his £100million switch from Aston Villa.
