Fury as fans of Israeli club are BANNED from Aston Villa clash amid 'safety and security fears' and concerns over protests: PM slams 'wrong' decision

Fans of Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv have been banned from a match on English soil, in a move that has angered the Jewish community and been slammed by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

West Midlands Police have requested no away supporters at Aston Villa’s Europa League tie with the Israeli side in Birmingham on November 6 amid ‘a number of physical and safety factors’.

The force gave the advice to the Safety Advisory Group, a gathering of officials from the club and emergency services that issues safety licences. A number of threats are understood to have been made ahead of the call.
