Bristol City 0-2 Aston Villa: Carla Ward's side secure their first win of the Women's Super League season thanks to two late goals as Megan Connolly's own goal and Ebony Salomon's strike lifts them off the bottom of the table

After 65 minutes of football that can only be described as tepid at best, Ebony Salmon came off the bench to change the course of this game and potentially Aston Villa’s season.

The first goal may not be given to the striker, with Megan Connolly deflecting her shot past a helpless Olivia Clark, but there was no doubting the second - a solo run and finish into the bottom corner.

Salmon spent two years with Bristol City before leaving for America when the club was relegated from the Women’s Super League in 2021. Villa brought the 22-year-old back to England this summer but she has had to be patient for opportunities.
