Aston Villa fear Jonathan Kodjia could miss the start of next season after scans revealed the striker has suffered a broken ankle.
Kodjia will visit a specialist in Europe for further tests but will likely need to undergo an operation that would rule out the 27-year-old for a number of months.
The news is a significant blow to Steve Bruce’s aims of starting a promotion push off positively, given Kodjia has been the club’s top scorer with 19 goals this campaign.

The Ivory Coast international suffered the injury during Villa’s 1-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers, twisting his ankle awkwardly and being carried off on a stretcher.
