John Terry was denied a winning start to his Villa career by Jarrod Bowen after the Hull midfielder bagged his first senior goal on Saturday.
Gabby Agbonlahor gave Villa a perfect start when fired home from close range from Alan Hutton's low cross in the seventh minute.
But Jarrod Bowen equalised with a sweet volley in the 62nd minute.
