World Cup: Williamson marks debut with a win

We had four stars fighting for a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup over the weekend. Read on to find out how they fared.

Leah Williamson came on as a second-half substitute in England’s 3-0 win over Cameroon on Sunday, ensuring she marked her debut World Cup appearance with a victory.

Steph Houghton opened the scoring in unusual fashion, converting an indirect free-kick from just six yards out, before Ellen White doubled their advantage with a cool finish on the stroke of half time.

Phil Neville’s side continued to dominate play and in the 58th minute they were three goals to the good, courtesy of a first-time effort from Alex Greenwood.
