Wolfsburg 2-2 Arsenal: Injury-ravaged Gunners drag themselves back into the Women’s Champions League semi-final tie after strikes from Rafaelle and Blackstenius complete comeback with scores level going into the second leg

Twenty-five minutes into the first leg of this Champions League semi-final, Arsenal’s dream was fading.

Two goals down against German champions Wolfsburg, with five key players missing, the odds were against them.

But, somehow, Jonas Eidevall’s injury-hit side managed to drag themselves back into this tie. Rafaelle made it 2-1 just before half-time then Stina Blackstenius levelled mid-way through the second half.

This 2-2 draw is more than many expected them to take back to the Emirates next week.

The second leg will still be tough, with Caitlin Foord the only player who could return from injury to play a part.
