'We’ve got fantastic leaders all across the pitch': Arsenal's stand-in captain Katie McCabe insists her injury-stricken side have the 'character' to beat Wolfsburg - and reach their first Champions League final in 26 YEARS

Perhaps nobody sums up the fighting spirit of Arsenal better than Katie McCabe.

When the Gunners went 2-0 down 24 minutes into the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg, chances of a comeback were slim.

Four days after losing Leah Williamson to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Arsenal’s squad was as thin as it has been all season. No Kim Little, no Beth Mead, no Vivianne Miedema, no Caitlin Foord.

Surely, there was no way back? Wrong. With McCabe wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Little and Williamson, Arsenal fought their way back with sheer grit and determination.
