Our Under-21 team have been drawn against Exeter City, Cardiff City and Newport County in the group stage of the Vertu Trophy 2025/26.
A total of 16 Premier League academy sides will compete alongside the 48 clubs from League One and League Two this season and we've been handed three trips to the west and south west.
Cardiff City, who haven't been in the third tier of the Football League for 21 years, last played in the competition in 2003, reaching the southern section quarter-finals before going out to Bournemouth.
Another opponent coming from League One is Exeter City, who were knocked out in the round of 32 in 2024/25 by eventual finalists Birmingham City.
