Smith Rowe wins Euro U21s with England

Emile Smith Rowe started the European Under-21 Championship final against Spain as England won the tournament for the first time since 1984.

Cole Palmer’s free-kick struck the back of Curtis Jones and the deflection evaded the Spanish goalkeeper Arnau Tenas to give the Young Lions the lead in the first half.

Tensions were high after the opening goal as England assistant coach Ashley Cole and one of the Spanish coaching staff were both shown red cards as things got heated on the sidelines.

Emile was substituted on 66th-minute mark, being replaced by Noni Madueke with Lee Carsley’s side still leading 1-0 with just over 20 minutes remaining on the clock.
