Renée Slegers was delighted to get back to winning ways as her side came from behind to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday night.
Our head coach saw us go behind to a Caroline Weir volley in the first half, but a couple of Alessia Russo headers turned the game around.
“I think in the first half, not so many chances created,” Renée reflected. “I think we have a couple of shots. They get the set-piece, the free-kick. I think we set up a bad situation for ourselves where we gave away the free-kick and they scored from the second phase.
