Our 2025/26 Carabao Cup campaign begins in the third round against Port Vale at Vale Park on Wednesday (7.45pm UK).
We’ll be looking to go a step further than last season’s outing in the competition, as we reached the semi-finals, only to lose to eventual winners Newcastle United.
It’s League One opposition for us on Wednesday as we visit a Port Vale side who sit 19th in the third tier with eight points from their opening nine matches, most recently beating Mansfield Town 2-1 at Vale Park.
Valliant efforts
It took eight matches for Port Vale to pick up a first victory in League One in a 2-0 win at Exeter City, which they followed up this weekend with a 2-1 win over 10-man Mansfield Town, thanks to a 95th-minute winner by Ronan Curtis.
