Paul Merson claims Marcelo Bielsa's refusal to move away from his philosophy at Leeds is reminiscent of the latter years of Arsene Wenger's Arsenal tenure

Paul Merson has claimed that Marcelo Bielsa's refusal to alter his tactics at Leeds is reminiscent of Arsene Wenger's reluctance to change in the latter years of his time at Arsenal.

After falling to their joint-heaviest ever defeat as they were thrashed 7-0 away to Manchester City, Leeds were then beaten 4-1 at home to Arsenal.

Despite the hugely disappointing results, Bielsa has continued to stick to his principles and encourages his team to play a high-octane style of football despite it often leaving them vulnerable defensively.

Paul Merson claims Marcelo Bielsa's stubbornness is similar to Arsene Wenger's latter years at Arsenal

Merson believes that Bielsa's approach is similar to when Arsenal faced Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2011 with a weakened side and ended up getting beaten 8-2 as Wenger continued to play attack-minded football.
