Patrick Viera 'is interested in coaching US men's team and has been contacted about the job' as director Matt Crocker weighs Gregg Berhalter's future against hiring new manager

Arsenal legend and fired former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Viera has reportedly shown interest in becoming the next head coach of the United States men's national team.

Sources have told ESPN that Viera was contacted by the United States Soccer Federation, and while those talks haven't progressed, Viera is very intrigued by the challenge presented in America, and believes the young team has great potential.

The 46-year-old Frenchman was fired at Palace in March with the team sporting a pitiful 0-5-6 record. If there is a positive takeaway from Viera's time with the Eagles it's that he coached Chris Richards, an American center back on the USMNT.
