Omar Rekik has joined Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam on loan for the 2022/23 season.
The 20 year-old defender who joined us from Hertha Berlin in January 2021, was a regular with the under-23s last season, making 19 appearances, including 14 in the Premier League 2 campaign.
The central defender was born in the Netherlands, for whom he featured at under-18 level, but is now a senior international with Tunisia, making his debut in a 1-0 win over Mali in June 2021. Omar’s strong performances were rewarded with a place in the Tunisia squad for the Africa Cup of Nations 2022 held in Cameroon in January, where he made two appearances helping Tunisia reach the quarter-finals.
