Mikel Arteta hoping he'll have Gabriel Martinelli 'back really soon' as he awaits scan results after Brazilian twisted his ankle in warm-up prior to FA Cup clash against Newcastle

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is still waiting for teenage forward Gabriel Martinelli to have a scan following an ankle injury sustained in the warm-up ahead of Saturday's FA Cup win over Newcastle.

Martinelli was taking part in a pre-match possession drill when his studs looked to got caught in the Emirates turf.

The Brazilian forward saw his knee jolt and his body weight go over on his right ankle and was quickly left in a heap on the floor, prompting his team-mates to urge for medical attention.

After the match, Arteta claimed that Martinelli was due to have the scan on Sunday but that has now been pushed back to Monday morning.
