As Arsenal’s most powerful men descended on the LA Rams’ training base, the comparisons were clear.
Co-chair Josh Kroenke, CEO Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Edu had arrived, and light-hearted comments followed about hoping the base’s magic would rub off on Arsenal, with Stan Kroenke’s NFL team having won the Super Bowl in February last year.
The two sides have a clear alignment. In the Rams’ case, Stan invested $5billion (£3.9bn) to build the SoFi Stadium and, in turn, moved the team from St Louis to Los Angeles in 2016.
Fans were in uproar at the time, but now bask in the glory of a first championship in more than 20 years after much investment in the team.
