'I was getting frustrated' - Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane reveals lack of opportunities was behind Arsenal move

Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane has admitted a lack of opportunities and communication with Arsene Wenger forced him to leave Arsenal.

On Wednesday, McGuane became the first Englishman to play for Barca in 29 years since Gary Lineker after featuring against Espanyol in the Catalan Super Cup.

After more than decade in Arsenal’s reserves and youth-teams, McGuane swapped London for Catalonia and has made four appearances for Barcelona B.

And in an interview with the Daily Mail, the 19-year-old revealed a lack of assurances from Arsen Wenger about first-team action was the catalyst for him to leave.
