Having come through one battle against Chelsea, the first-team squad faced another earlier this week as they went paintballing.
So what was the thinking behind it? Unai Emery explained the importance of bringing the squad together away from the pitch when the chance arises.
"I like a lot to do something different sometimes, in my career at all the teams," he said. "On Monday we prepared for this day.
"I think it was a good moment to do an activity together, away from here and also paintball is good for us to be together and do something different.
