Reigning champions Manchester City were held at home to Southampton, who themselves saw a controversial penalty and Kyle Walker red card reversed by VAR, while Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea continued their rise at the top.

Meanwhile, Leicester City were surprisingly defeated away at Brighton, while Brentford also picked up a shock win away at a toothless Wolves. Arsenal are building confidence after claiming a victory away at Burnley.
