Arsenal have watched Mesut Ozil go AWOL in big games before... but firing them past Bayern Munich can silence his critics and save a stalling season

Chelsea in the Premier League was Arsenal’s biggest game of the season so far, one which saw Mesut Ozil go missing and Arsene Wenger’s side all but thrown out of the title race.

Two weeks on they have an arguably tougher test against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Another big game and, as Arsenal fans fear, another opportunity for Ozil to go AWOL.

The £42.5million player is under more scrutiny than ever, particularly as he returns to the motherland. This is no happy homecoming for a German World Cup winner.
