MURRAY, Ky. (4/7/17) – Marisa Marquez completed the first day of competition at the Jan Weaver Invitational tied for second place, leading the Arkansas State women’s golf team to a fourth-place standing among 10 teams with a 36-hole 621 recorded Friday at the Miller Memorial Golf Course.
Marquez carded a 73 and 76 for the first and second rounds, respectively, to put her only one stroke behind leader Moa Folke of Murray State heading into Saturday’s final round. The A-State freshman’s 73 matched the lowest single-round score of the day among all players.
Arkansas State, which began play with a 310 and followed with a 311, is currently 10 strokes ahead of fifth-place Austin Peay State and within one of third-place ULM.
