Red Wolves Hold Off Texas State In SBC Opener For Sixth Straight Win

JONESBORO, Ark. (1/7/21) – After waiting a week to open Sun Belt Conference play, Arkansas State's league opener came right down to the wire, as the Red Wolves held off Texas State for a 54-53 victory Friday night at First National Bank Arena.

The Red Wolves (6-1, 1-0 SBC) continued their strong start to the season by defeating the Bobcats (4-4, 1-2) for their sixth consecutive victory. The win continues A-State's best start to a season since 2003-04 (7-0).

"Our group was really resilient," head coach Matt Daniel said. "We had to get two stops on the fly, so I'm really proud of our group.
