After stranding runners on the corners in the top of the first, A-State gave up a run on a sacrifice fly to UAB’s Brewer Hicklen.
Blazers added two more runs in the fourth to increase their lead to 3-0, while the Red Wolves went five straight innings without a hit. In the bottom of the sixth, the Blazers scored on a home run by Carter Pharis.
Matt Burgess gave A-State their second hit of the game in the seventh, and would advance to second on a fielder’s choice. He’d be stranded in scoring position on a Jared Huff popped one to second.
