JONESBORO, Ark. (1/22/16) – Hosting its second and final home meet of the indoor season, the Arkansas State men’s and women’s track and field teams began competition Friday in the two-day A-State Invitational at the Convocation Center by recording seven first-place finishes out of 11 completed events.
The women’s squads collected four first-place finishes and the men posted three. The Red Wolves were also responsible for several top-10 performances in school history, including senior Samone Thompson with the program’s second best ever showing in the women’s pentathlon with 3,719 points.
“I thought the highlight of the day was Samone Thompson barely missing the school record in the pentathlon,” said A-State head coach Jim Patchell.
