Newton-Smith, Hensley Take Top Two Spots At Samford Multis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (1/21/21) – Camryn Newton-Smith and Allie Hensley placed first and second, respectively, as the Arkansas State women's track and field pair competed in the pentathlon at the Samford Multis Thursday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The All-American Newton-Smith finished first with 4,068 points, just three points shy of matching her school-record 4,071 points scored at the same venue at the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships. Her mark is also the best in Division I this season, while currently ranking third in the world. Hensley totaled 3,602 points, notching personal-bests in the 60m hurdles, high jump and shot put.
