NORMAN, Okla. (5/14/18) – Arkansas State senior Tanner Napier began play Monday at the NCAA Regional golf tournament at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, shooting a first-round 75 to place him tied for 36th among 75 players.
One of five individuals selected to compete in the regional, Napier ended the 54-hole tournament’s opening day only one stroke behind eight players tied for 28th place and within two strokes of the top 21 leaders. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regionals will advance to the finals.
Napier will enter Tuesday’s second round five strokes behind Nevada’s Corey Eddings and SMU’s McClure Meissner, who are currently the individual leaders not on one of the top five teams in the current standings.
