Gearing up: Red Wolves click on both sides of the ball

JONESBORO -- There were too many turnovers and too many penalties. There were games in which Arkansas State's offense couldn't get into gear and those in which its defense couldn't stop the run.

The first month of ASU's season included four losses, which came in a variety of ways. Even in consecutive victories this month, ASU committed six turnovers combined and its passing game was at times so shaky its coaches decided to lean on the run.

All the warts that marked the first half of ASU's season seemingly disappeared Saturday night, as Justice Hansen threw four touchdown passes, the defense didn't allow a touchdown until the third quarter and the Red Wolves routed struggling Louisiana-Monroe 51-10 in front of an announced crowd of 20,170 at Centennial Bank Stadium.
