Freshmen Lead A-State at Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. (2/28/16) – Freshmen Beth Ann Compton and Aracelly Jimenez Rios both collected a top-25 individual finish to lead the Arkansas State women’s golf team at the Rio Verde Invitational, which concluded Sunday with the Red Wolves tied for 10th place among 18 teams in the three-day tournament’s final standings.

A-State entered today’s competition in ninth place, but fell into a tie for 10th with Northern Illinois after posting a final-round 307. The squad still posted a combined 912, which was its best three-round score this spring and third best of the season.

The Red Wolves began play Friday with a 304 and followed yesterday with a 301, tying their fourth best single-round score this season.
