JONESBORO -- As the standalone college football game featured Thursday night on ESPN, Arkansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette delivered a thriller to the national audience at Centennial Bank Stadium.
With three seconds left in the contest and the ball at the Louisiana-Lafayette 2, ASU quarterback Jaylen Raynor kept the ball on an option play to the right. A swarm of Ragin' Cajun defenders halted Raynor inches short of the goal line and secured the 34-30 victory to keep their postseason hopes alive.
It appeared Raynor fumbled the ball while trying to extend for the goal line before right tackle Aleric Watson scooped up the ball and continued to fight for the goal line.
