NEW ORLEANS — When his team’s recent struggles in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament are brought up, Arkansas State women’s basketball Coach Brian Boyer turns to the positive.
“We’ve walked off the court with four wins,” Boyer said. “So, there’s been a lot of positive feelings down there as well.”
That’s true, in that the Red Wolves have won firstround and semifinal games to advance to the finals of the past two conference tournaments held at Lakefront Arena. But they’ve also left the tournament with championship game losses, one step short of earning an automatic bid to their first NCAA Tournament.
