ASU WR depth thinner after Bowling's MCL tear

JONESBORO -- Arkansas State University sophomore wide receiver Brandon Bowling is expected to miss the remainder of the 2018 season after suffering a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee in this week's 35-9 loss to Appalachian State.

Bowling, who will undergo surgery Tuesday, will require 6-8 weeks to recover, meaning the earliest he could return is December.

It is unlikely Bowling could return for the Sun Belt Championship Game on Dec. 1 should ASU qualify. A return before a possible bowl game appearance in late December was not ruled out.

"He might be ready at the very end," said ASU Coach Blake Anderson, "but more than likely it's probably the season for him.
