Aundrea Gamble scored 8 of her game-high 16 points in the first quarter as Arkansas State jumped to a 25-10 lead and cruised to a 66-44 victory over Texas-Arlington on Saturday at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.
Texas-Arlington trimmed the Arkansas State lead to six, 16-10, with 2:31 left in the first quarter, but that would be as close as the Mavericks got the rest of the day. The Red Wolves (24-3, 18-0 Sun Belt) closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run and extended the run to 16-4 in the first 4:37 of the second quarter.
