JONESBORO, Ark. (3/31/18) – The Arkansas State baseball team couldn’t solve the University of Louisiana at Lafayette starter Colten Schmidt in a 6-1 loss Saturday afternoon as the Ragin’ Cajuns avoided a sweep at Tomlinson Stadium in Jonesboro.
The Red Wolves (11-13, 3-6 SBC) were able to take two of the three games from Louisiana (12-15, 3-6 SBC) for their first series win since 2012, but just weren’t able to string together enough hits off Schmidt, who went the distance for the Cajuns to improve to 2-0 on the year. The left-handed starter allowed eight hits and allowed one earned run with a career-high seven punch outs against two walks in his first career complete game.
