A-State Tennis Falls In Dual Match Season Opener

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (2/12/15) — The Arkansas State women’s tennis team opened the 2016 dual match season with a 6-1 setback against Stephen F. Austin Friday afternoon at the Schleif Tennis Complex.

Julie Gauguery captured the only singles’ point of the day for A-State with a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (7-5) victory over the LadyJacks’ Densie Maxl. Gauguery also teamed with Victoria Roberts to a 6-2 matchup in doubles’ competition over Dhanielly Quevedo and Lauren Hidalgo-Smith, but the Red Wolves fell in the other two doubles’ matches to drop the point.

“We played fairly well but I felt like we got little conservative in the doubles’ matches at times,” A-State head coach Kel Lange said.
