Yurachek thanks trustees for supporting decision to fire basketball coach

University of Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek thanked the UA board of trustees for its support “through the process” in his decision to fire Mike Anderson as the Razorbacks’ head basketball coach on Tuesday.

“Thank you so much for helping me see that through,” Yurachek told the trustees Wednesday during their meeting in Hot Springs.

Yurachek declined to comment to reporters at the meeting, and unlike previous Arkansas athletic directors, he is not holding a news conference with the media to answer questions after firing a football or men’s basketball coach.

In an Arkansas news release announcing Anderson’s firing, Yurachek said he would conduct a national search for a new basketball coach and would not comment on the process until Anderson’s replacement is hired.
