FAYETTEVILLE — For the second time since his December 2017 hiring as Arkansas athletics director, Hunter Yurachek expects to lead a football head coaching search.
The Razorbacks fired coach Sam Pittman after a 2-3 start to the season, ending his tenure 5 games into his sixth season. He finished with a 32-34 overall and 14-29 SEC record.
Pittman’s dismissal came one day after being blown out at home by Notre Dame, 56-13, and ahead of an open weekend. Arkansas does not play again until Oct. 11 at No. 15 Tennessee.
It gives the Razorbacks (2-3) a head start in what is anticipated to be a crowded coaching carousel, which already includes openings at Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech and UCLA.
