FAYETTEVILLE — Virginia Tech announced the hiring of former Arkansas baseball pitcher Doug Willey as its new pitching coach Friday.

Willey, who transferred to the Razorbacks for his senior season in 2016 after three years at Division II Franklin Pierce, was most recently the pitching coach at Xavier. His three-year stint coaching the Musketeers came after three years coaching minor league pitchers in the Chicago Cubs organization. Before that, he spent two years as a graduate assistant at Arkansas from 2018-19 working under pitching coach Matt Hobbs.

“Doug brings a wealth of experience both from the college and pro side to us,” Virginia Tech coach John Szefc said in a news release.
