'Very needed': Arkansas football started fast, Arkansas State didn't in Razorbacks' win

LITTLE ROCK — Neither Arkansas football nor Arkansas State started their first games of the season strong defensively last week.

The Razorbacks let Alabama A&M march down the field for a 7-play, 75-yard touchdown drive on its first possession. They recovered well and blew out the SWAC opponent, but it raised questions. Defensive players said they weren’t communicating effectively to start the game and that it was just a quirk of the season opener.

The Arkansas defense had no such issues Saturday in a 56-14 win over Arkansas State at War Memorial Stadium.
