One of the transfer portal’s many impacts on college football is the number of players who have to start from square one in new programs each year.
Rather than just having to show the new freshmen the ropes, coaches now have dozens of players who are veterans by classification but total newcomers to the program at which they’ve arrived. New coaches to meet and new routines to get used to, as well as an unfamiliar set of terminology to learn in the offensive or defensive scheme.
That will be the case for most of Arkansas’ new-look receiving corps this season, especially the late arrivals in the spring portal window, Jalen Brown and Andy Jean.
