Top-seeded Razorbacks open SEC Tournament with sights on first championship

FAYETTEVILLE — When his team clinched the regular-season SEC soccer championship 11 days ago, Arkansas soccer coach Colby Hale noticed a different reaction than when the Razorbacks won the title last year.

Hale said he thinks the celebration was not as joyous because his team is out to win a title it hasn’t won before: the SEC Tournament.

The No. 7 Razorbacks have lost in the tournament championship game four years in a row — twice by one goal in regulation, once by one goal in overtime and once in penalty kicks.

Most of Arkansas’ roster has been part of at least one of those losses, and redshirt senior Kayla McKeon has been on the team for all four.
