For a very brief moment, Nick Pringle was the hero for Arkansas basketball after spinning and finishing a go-ahead layup through contact with just seconds remaining against Winthrop.
In the blink of an eye, the senior big man was on top of Winthrop forward Logan Duncomb with two fistfuls of jersey. The referees raced in to break up the ensuing scuffle and spent a good long while at the scorers’ table combing through the evidence.
The replay clearly showed that Duncomb had put Pringle in a headlock and tried to sling him to the ground. That’s a bold move against a 6-foot-10, 230-pound, 24-year-old man.
